James Cresswell Scenery Explained Wales


James has a  a degree in geology, and a masters in oceanography. His passion is to explain scenery, geology, and climate change to a wider audience. He runs his own geotourism company called GeoWorld Travel, that takes people to see fossils, volcanoes and glaciers right around the world.  Brecon Beacons Tours is a part of GeoWorld Travel, and offers tours, guided hikes and holidays in Wales.

James has 9 years experience of  polar region guiding , with many trips to Antarctica, Svalbard, the Canadian Arctic, west and east Greenland, the Geographical North Pole and Russian Arctic. He has also guided in Northern Australia, Indonesia  and Papua New Guinea, and has been a safari guide in both Kenya and Botswana. He holds his UK summer mountain leader qualification and has worked as a hiking guide to the Burgess Shale fossil quarry in the Canadian Rockies. James' passion for communicating geosciences began when he started his career working in the television documentary industry. He was the researcher on a Discovery Channel geological series, and was part of the BBC’s ‘Blue Planet’ series.

In addition to James' passion for traveling the world, James is passionate about his home: the Brecon Beacons National Park of Wales, where his family have lived for many generations.  Join him on these special tours, and have the scenery, wildlife and heritage explained!
